Welcome to Zoological society of Pakistan.

The Zoological Society of Pakistan (ZSP) was founded in 1968 as an interdisciplinary scientific society that would draw together members from diverse scientific backgrounds under the unified discipline of Zoology. The objectives as defined in the Society's constitution are:

  • Promotion of scientific knowledge of animals and of related subjects through discussions, reports and publications.

  • Stimulation of scientific investigations and their applications.

  • Planning, organization and administration of projects for the advancement of scientific knowledge in Zoology.

  • Improvement of education and of professional qualifications in Zoology.

  • Promotion of international cooperation in achieving the above objectives.

1. 32nd Pakistan Congress of Zoology (International) will be held on March 6-8, 2012 in the Department of Zoology of Government College University, Lahore.




The Last date for submission of abstracts and the registration form alongwith the registration fee (Rs. 1000/=) is Februrary 2, 2012.

2. Pakistan Academy of Sciences has awarded Prof.Dr.Abdul Rauf Shakoori, Distinguished National Professor and Director School of Biological Sciences, University of the Punjab, prize of ''Distinguished Scientist of the Year 2011'' in the subject of Zoology in recognition of his outstanding research work in the subject.




3. Nominations are invited for The Zoologist of The year Award 2012, Prof. A.R. Shakoori Gold Medal, Prof. Dr. Mirza Azhar Beg Gold Medal, Prof. Imtiaz Ahmad Gold Medal and Prof. Dr. Nasima M. Tirmizi Memorial Gold Medal. These Awards will be given an the Inaugural Ceremony of 32nd Pakistan Congress of Zoology being hosted by GC University Lahore on March 6, 2012.
